The phrase por chavar translates to "for the heck of it". So this is For The Heck of It Press. The name was chosen in homage to Sylvia Paret's paternal grandfather, Luis Daniel Paret, Sr. — autodidactic genius, writer, amateur chemist, occasional winemaker, and eccentric bohemian bon vivant — who created merely por chavar. It is in this selfsame spirit that these publications are put forth into the world — because while the projects and publications were created in utmost seriousness and care, releasing them to the wild is something one does unfussily, almost in jest — even as one still hopes to stir the minds of viewers and readers.
